Environmental Education
Basic Approach and FY2011 Initiatives
The Minebea Group provides training on environmental management basics to all new employees and midcareer hires in order to raise the environmental consciousness of each employee. In addition, all Group employees receive general environmental education which explains the Minebea Group Environmental Policy along with environmental targets and action plans.
In addition to these programs, we provide training for ISO 14001 internal auditors, waste management education, and drills which simulate natural disasters and other types of emergencies.

Publication of the Minebea Group's In-house Environmental Newspaper Hello Environment!
The Group's in-house environmental newspaper Hello Environment!
Each month, the Minebea Group publishes its in-house environmental newspaper, Hello Environment! Each issue focuses on a particular educational theme with easily understood, instructive articles.
The content includes not only articles on the Group's environmental activities, but practical information on the environment and daily lifestyles. The Group's first environmental newspaper was published by the Hamamatsu Plant in January 2000, and through the March 2012 edition of the Group's inhouse environmental newspaper, a total of 142 editions had been published.
ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Training (Japan)
Internal auditor training session
Between FY1999 and FY2011, 12 internal auditor training sessions have been held, and a total of 234 employees have been certified as internal auditors.
The training is conducted by employees with ISO 14001 auditor certification and the emphasis is on providing employees with the knowledge and skills needed to become internal auditors. Selected by each of their domestic plants, trainees acquire auditing knowledge through lectures, mock audits, and discussion sessions, with a written test at the end of the training. Trainees are judged on their participation, the quality of their audit reports, and the results of their written test, and those passing the course are certified as internal auditors.
Environmental education to promote energy conservation (Thailand)
Training session
In Thailand, environmental education programs to promote energy conservation are being actively implemented.
In FY2011, six training sessions were led by an expert from Thai's Bureau of Energy Regulation and Conservation, and four other sessions were led by a private-sector expert, for a total of 10 sessions attended by 190 employees. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, from energy conservation basics to more specialized know-how on methods to analyze energy consumption. The attendees are applying their learning to raise the efficiency of air conditioning and lighting systems at their respective plants and offices and promote other such energy conservation initiatives.
