Basic Approach
So that as many people as possible may become aware of the MinebeaMitsumi Group's initiatives to preserve the environment, we publicize those initiatives and their results on the Internet and through a variety of means including CSR reports, company brochures, and annual reports. We also actively take part in regional activities and create opportunities to introduce the Minebea Group's environmental initiatives to the public.
"Zero Waste" Activities at the Mitsumi Electric Head Office (Japan)
In conjunction with "Zero Waste Day" on May 30, 2017, the Mitsumi Electric Head Office in Tama City, Tokyo conducted activities to clean the area around the company.
Four companies in the neighborhood, including JUKI Corporation, Tokio Marine & Nichido Systems Co., Ltd., Asahi Mutual Life Insurance Company, and Mitsumi Electric, support these activities every year by dividing the surroundings into areas that the companies clean on the same day.
Mitsumi Electric was responsible for the area between the Tamachuo Police Station and nearby condominiums. Fourteen Mitsumi Union members from the company participated.
The activities, which began at 7:30 a.m. and lasted 45 minutes, included picking up empty cans, plastic bottles, cigarette butts and so on.

NMB-Minebea Thai Donates Used Aluminum Cans for Supporting the Disabled (Thailand)

In July 2017, NMB-Minebea Thai's Ayutthaya Plant donated 84 kilograms of used aluminum cans for recycling to the Pollution Control Department, Bangkok in support of the Department's disability aid activity. The donated cans will be used in the production of prosthetic legs.
This activity increases NMB-Minebea Thai employees' awareness and understanding regarding recycling, reducing waste and disability aid.
NMB-Minebea Thai Invites Local Representatives to Ayutthaya Plant (Thailand)
In August 2017, with work on the pond at the south side of the facility complete, NMB-Minebea Thai welcomed local community and government representatives to the Ayutthaya Plant on the occasion of Queen Sirikit's birthday (August 12).
An overview of the company's health and safety practices, environmental protections and CSR activities was followed by a tour of the facility. Additionally, 2,000 pla nin* fry were released into the completed pond and 63 golden shower trees, the national flower of Thailand, were also planted in the area.

Qingdao Mitsumi Plant Takes Part in Golden Sand Beach Cleanup (China)
In September 2017, QINGDAO MITSUMI ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. (China) participated in a nearby cleanup activity sponsored by Qingdao Free Trade Zone Trade Unions. Six union members from the company participated in the event.
The cleanup activity was held on the Golden Sand Beach and its surrounding area. A total of 151 persons participated in the event from four companies other than Qingdao Mitsumi, the local government Environment Department, and the bonded port management committee. The cleanup lasted about three hours.

NMB-Minebea Thai Ltd. Provides Waste Separation Class to Local Children (Thailand)
In December 2017, NMB-Minebea Thai Ltd. hosted a workshop to teach 102 students from the nearby Wadrurchai School and Watkumtae School in Ayutthaya Province the ins and outs of sorting trash. The workshop was designed to help the students learn how to sort trash and raise awareness of environmental protection.
Main activities
- Taught the state of Thailand's garbage problem and explained the necessity of separating trash for disposal and recycling and also explained the consequences when waste disposal is not managed properly.
- Conducted quizzes and games so the children could enjoy learning about waste management.
- Gave each school a donation of 20 waste bins and prizes for answering quizzes and games.

NMB-Minebea Thai Ltd. Explains its Water Resources Preservation to the Local Community Residents (Thailand)
In December 2017, NMB-Minebea's Bang Pa-in plant welcomed 19 people from nearby Pra-Inta Racha Municipality to tour the plant's wastewater treatment system and wastewater recycle system.
After the tour, the participants had better understanding of the plant's wastewater treatment, water conservation initiatives and satisfied to see plant wastewater is recycled inside the plant to the greatest extent possible and prevent external emission through our "Plant Wastewater Zero System."

NMB-Minebea Thai Ltd. Provides Waste Separation Class to Local Children (Thailand)
In January 2018, NMB-Minebea Thai's Rojana Plant hosted a workshop to help students learn how to sort trash and communicate the importance of environmental protection. The workshop taught 102 students from the nearby Wat Ban Heeb School in Ayutthaya Province the ins and outs of sorting trash and recycling.
Main activities
- Teach the students that recycling is possible if the trash is sorted properly.
- Conduct quizzes and games so the children can enjoy learning about sorting trash.
- The school was given a donation of five waste bins and prizes for answering quizzes and games
Also, the Ayutthaya Plant hosted a similar workshop at a nearby Wat Tanot School.
