Ball bearings
Ball bearings comprise an outer ring, inner ring, balls, retainers, shields and snap rings. Essential to high-precision rotary components, ball bearings determine rotational accuracy. Minebea has a high global market share in miniature and small sized ball bearings with 22mm or less in external diameter.
Blowers
Blowers rotate fans to cool the inside of office automation equipment by directing heat outside. These motors have more high power to cool than normal type of fan motor.

Brush DC motors

Brushless motors
Brushless motors include small brushless motors, power brushless motors and polygon mirror scanner motors. Small brushless motors are used in driving and electrical components for digital AV equipment and PC peripheral devices. Power brushless motors are used in mechanical driving for photoconductive drums, paper feeds, and toners in copiers and other office automation equipment. Polygon mirror scanner motors are used in laser writing in digital copiers and other such devices to scan laser beam radiated from LD (laser diode) into photoreceptor.

Bushings
Bushings are used in a variety of mechanical moving parts on both rotary and fixed wing aircraft. They are used in helicopters, primarily in the main rotor axes, and in landing gear for fixed wing aircraft. Bushings apply originally-developed Teflon liner to the inside of the bore and edge faces to allow for rotation without the need for lubricating agents.

Fluid dynamic bearings (FDB)
In a fluid dynamic bearing (FDB), a thin layer of oil or other lubricant is injected between the shaft and sleeve. The structure of the bearing features a rotating shaft, which generates a hydrodynamic force, causing the shaft to rotate. The non-contact construction of this bearing makes it particularly suited for improving rotational accuracy and enhancing quietness and robustness.
Force sensors
Used in bath scales, various other types of scales, game consoles, home appliances, load sensors, etc., these sensors are sensors for mass production that use strain gages.

Hard Disk Drive (HDD) spindle motors
Hard Disk Drive (HDD) spindle motors are what cause the disks in HDDs to rotate. The precision of these motors determine the capacity and speed of HDDs, making these components critical to HDD performance. Accordingly, these motors must offer superior performance in terms of rotational speed and low Non-Repeatable Run Out (NRRO).

LED backlights
Minebea's lighting devices are the parts used for fine color liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) for cellular telephones, smart phones, tablet PCs and personal digital assistants (PDAs). As LCDs cannot generate light on their own, backlight systems which consists of a reflector, a guide plate, and prism sheets that illuminate from behind the displays are essential. The system comprise white light-emitting diode (LED) chips and transparent plastic panel made from micron-order prisms for controlling light.

Load cells
Minebea manufactures load cells that use strain gage to convert tension, compression or mass into electric signals. Load cells, connected to various measuring devices for measuring purposes, display, record, control and keep track of the loads.
Applications are diverse varying from small sensors for use in electronic scales, bath scales, game consoles and home electronics to those for general industrial uses, such as truck scales, measuring systems in production lines and tank scales.

Machined components business
Machined components business consists of miniature and small-sized ball bearings, rod-end bearings and fasteners and pivot assemblies for Hard Disk Drives.
Magnetic clutches and brakes
Magnetic clutches use electric magnets produced to lock or unlock the engine and the transmission input shaft, facilitating or terminating the flow of power. Magnetic brakes use electric magnets to accelerate, decelerate or stop rotation.

Measuring components (Sensing devices)
Measuring components (Sensing devices) include strain gages and load cells, etc.. These are the products which measure weights and are used for measurement of a track loaded with loads, bag filling in the factory and rockets. These are also used for bath scales, cars and game controllers, etc. at home. *Measuring components have changed their name to sensing devices in April 2016.

Micro actuators
Micro actuators are small diameter / high speed PM stepping motors.
Small diameter stepping motor are used in lens barrels of digital cameras and optical aberration of Blu-ray disc drives. These stepping motors are small and thin, with high torque, and with more steps to improve in positioning accuracy.
We also line up high speed motors which use silicon steel metal. These are used in paper—feeding devices of printers, copy machines and other office automation equipment.

Minebea Motor Manufacturing Corporation (MMMC)
Minebea Motor Manufacturing Corporation was founded by integration of Minebea Co., Ltd. and four operations of Motor Company of then Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., including fan motors, stepping motors, vibration motors and brush DC motors in April 2004. (The company name has been changed to Minebea Motor Manufacturing Corporation from Minebea-Matsushita Motor Corporation since July 2007.)
Afterwards, the information equipment motor business of Panasonic Corporation was transferred to MMMC in April 2010. Therefore brushless DC motors (small brushless motors, power brushless motors and polygon mirror scanner motors) was newly added.
In February 2013, Minebea bought all 40% of Panasonic's holdings in MMMC to terminate the joint venture between the two companies. MMMC was merged into Minebea Co., Ltd. in April, 2013.

National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap)
Nadcap is a quality assurance, special process auditing and certification system developed in 1990 by the Performance Review Institute (PRI), a certifying organization operated by and for major aircraft and aircraft-engine manufacturers. At present, it is the world's only unified certification program in the aerospace field, and its certification is necessary in order to manufacture aerospace products requiring special processes.
NHBB
NHBB is the abbreviation for New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. which is a U.S.A. subsidiary of Minebea.
Minebea acquired Reed Instrument Corp. (the present New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc., Chatsworth Plant) from SKF of Sweden and commenced local production in the United States in 1971. In 1985, Minebea also acquired New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. which was listed on the American Stock Exchange.

Perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR)
A method to arrange magnetic substances so that magnetic field may vertically turn to magnetic record side. Adopting this method in the hard disk drive made its large capacity recording possible with stability and high density.
Pivot assemblies
Pivot assemblies are fitted into the base of actuators to position HDD magnetic heads. This product combines ball bearings between shaft and sleeve.

Roller bearings (Related to aircraft flight control)
Roller bearings are self-aligning bearings with roller held by retainer between inner race and outer race. They can take the form of single or double row bearings. The main characteristic of this product is the low starting torque when compared to ordinary spherical and rod end bearings. The technology lends itself to critical aircraft applications such as flight control.

Stepping motors
These motors rotate at fixed angles by digitally controlled electronic pulses and are mainly used in the paper-feeding devices of printers, copy machines, facsimiles and similar equipment. Hybrid-type stepping motors combine a rotor with a permanent magnet and a magnetic body using ball bearings. PM stepping motors use a permanent magnet (PM) as a rotor.

Strain gages
Strain gages consist of a very fine and thin metallic foil etched in a grid pattern, which is bonded to a device and used to measure the strain, or amount of deformation of the device when load or pressure is applied. The resulting electrical output is proportional to the strain.
Because these strain gages are so small that they are negligible in mass, they excel in sensitivity, stability and fatigue with no inertial effect. They are also an easy-to-handle device, whose operating temperature range is wide. The strain gages can be used to measure the strain of all kinds of materials, regardless of metal or plastic.

TRDC (Tokyo Research and Development Center)
In 2014, Minebea had established Tokyo Research and Development Center in its new headquarters building under direct control by our president, in order to boost the development capabilities of EMS (Electro Mechanics Solutions). Minebea has been engaged in development of production technologies and new products at its existing research & development centers in Japan. The new TRDC established in Tokyo, where a number of universities, research centers, and other private research and development institutions are located, is expected to enhance cooperation with various institutions, each specializing in different fields.
Minebea can also leverage the TRDC as a center connecting Minebea's overseas research centers and those in Japan, combining various businesses across the Company and enhancing synergy. This will harness the technological strengths in ultra-precision machining technology, small motors and sensors to accelerate Minebea's activities to make inroads into markets for value-added mechatronics business.

Vertically integrated manufacturing system
Competitive advantage for Minebea is its vertically integrated manufacturing system, which encompasses processes-including design and research; production and maintenance of dies; production of parts for in-house use; and assembly and testing. This system gives Minebea a sharp edge in terms of quality, supply capabilities, lead time and manufacturing costs.
