MinebeaMitsumi Sponsors Expo 2025 as a Venue Development Supplier
- Providing high-performance smart LED streetlights for the perimeter roads and within the site of the Expo venue -
MinebeaMitsumi Inc. (Head Office: Nagano Prefecture, Representative Director, Chairman & CEO: Yoshihisa Kainuma; hereinafter referred to as "MinebeaMitsumi") is pleased to announce its sponsorship of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (organized by Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition; hereinafter referred to as the “Expo 2025") as a venue development supplier. As part of the sponsorship, the company will provide 178 units of its high-performance smart LED streetlight/street lamp (hereinafter “Smart Streetlight") and 11 units of its Smart Gateway (wireless base unit). The Expo 2025 is scheduled to take place in Yumeshima, Osaka Prefecture, from Sunday, April 13, 2025 to Monday, October 13, 2025.
MinebeaMitsumi's Smart Streetlight is a highly-efficient smart lighting fixture that incorporates optically designed lens utilizing engineering design technology developed through guide panels for smartphone backlight manufacturing, along with a wireless mesh network function.
The design of this optical lens is based on thorough optical simulations, ensuring minimal upward light leakage as well as high lighting uniformity on the road surface. And with the company's proprietary mesh network, Smart Streetlight enables centralized management on Central Management System (CMS) via a gateway, as well as wireless lighting control, remote monitoring, and scheduling. These highly-efficient LEDs and lighting adjustment functions will contribute to lower power consumption and lower CO2 emission.
This sponsorship has been made possible as CMS' remote monitoring/scheduling function and an optical design that prevents upward light leakage have aligned with the exposition's eco-conscious lighting concept, creating an optimal nighttime environment for the exposition.
Furthermore, the following six bus stops at the Expo 2025 will display MinebeaMitsumi's corporate logo:
- Bus stop next to PASONA Pavilion
- Beside the flying car parking lot at the west entrance
- Beside the rest area and supply processing facility
- Nearby Osaka pavilion at the east entrance
- Nearby the east gate square
- Nearby the state guest house

MinebeaMitsumi is working towards realizing a smart city by expanding its smart lighting network centered around wireless, highly-efficient smart LED streetlights, with sensors and cameras integrated into the system. This smart LED streetlight features wireless, flexible lighting control, as well as operation time and electricity consumption monitoring, contributing to significant reduction in energy use and greenhouse gas emission.
