MinebeaMitsumi will Stop Selling In-House Produced Nonwoven Masks
As Soon As Stocks Run Out
MinebeaMitsumi Inc. ("our company") hereby announces that we will discontinue the production and sales of masks using MinebeaMitsumi high collection efficiency filters ("our company's masks") , which we began producing on April 1, 2020 and have been selling to outside customers since June 26, 2020, as soon as the current stock of finished masks runs out.
From April 2020, our company began producing masks in-house in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 outside of the company and to ensure the safety of its employees, as well as to fulfill its supply responsibility as a parts manufacturer through its production, sales, and general business activities. At first, we started to produce masks in the clean room at our Hamamatsu Plant for the use of our employees and their families. However, amidst the shortage of mask supplies worldwide, we tried to help meet the extra demand by expanding production to the Lop Buri Plant in Thailand and the Shanghai Plant in China and selling our company's masks on the open market.
In light of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's "Stance on the use of face masks from March 13, 2023" and its decision to reclassify the novel coronavirus as a category 5 infectious disease from May 8, we will stop selling our company's masks from May 31, 2023 (planed). In addition, we will no longer produce or sell our company's masks in special packages (cosmetic boxes) for corporate customers. MinebeaMitsumi has produced 114 million masks since April 2020, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who have used them.
MinebeaMitsumi respects those at the forefront of medical care who are involved in the treatment of novel coronaviruses, and will continue to grow sustainably while contributing to society through the development and supply of products that help solve social issues.

To date, we have donated 220,000 N95 masks and other medical supplies such as clean suits, all stockpiled in various regions as a measure against infectious diseases, volcanic eruptions, and other disasters, to as many as 150 medical institutions in Japan and abroad, the Japan Medical Association, and the governments of Southeast Asian countries.
In the medical field, we supply bearings, various motors, sensors, power supplies, semiconductors, connectors, etc. to various medical devices such as ventilators and cardiopulmonary bypass devices. We continue to have a resilient and stable supply system and place the top priority on supplying our parts to meet the growing needs.
