MinebeaMitsumi Inc. has installed solar power generation systems made by Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation on the roofs of two production sites, the Bang Pa-in plant (Ayutthaya Prefecture) and the Lopburi plant (Lopburi Prefecture), in Thailand. This will reduce annual CO2 emissions by approximately 4,000 tons and reduce electricity costs by approximately 25.5 million baht.

Today on January 15, we held an opening ceremony of solar panel completion at our Bang Pa-in plant inviting Secretary General, Her Excellency Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit from the Board of Investment (BOI)(remote attendance) and Mr. Hideyuki Inada, Chief Executive Officer, Sharp Solar Solution Asia Co., Ltd. From MinebeaMitsumi, Tetsu Shiozaki, Executive Officer, General Manager of Regional Affairs for Southeast Asia also attended the ceremony.

Our Thai Operations is an important base that accounts for more than 30% of our global production. We established the Ayutthaya plant (Ayutthaya prefecture) in 1980, and has continued to expand Thai operations rapidly since then. Currently, it has expanded to 9 bases and about 32,000 employees. Centering on the Bang Pa-in and Lopburi plants, we handle a wide range of products such as bearings, motors, and sensors. We have the largest number of employees among Japanese companies operating in Thailand, and the cumulative total investment in Thailand to date is 100 billion baht.

MinebeaMitsumi strongly focuses on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions under the Group's environmental policy. Starting from these two largest bases of the group as the first step, we are planning to introduce solar power generation systems to our own bases around the world in the future.

At the ceremony, Yoshihisa Kainuma, Representative Director, CEO and COO, commented in a video message as follows:
"MinebeaMitsumi Group's environmental policy is being implemented under our Corporate Philosophy and Five Principles, which cover environment-friendly production including, but not limited to, global warming preventive measures. In Japan, a government policy to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions to net zero by 2050 is being promoted. We believe that green transformation (GX) will continue to be of significant importance. We will therefore continue to actively invest for carbon neutrality.
We are truly grateful that MinebeaMitsumi Group has continued receiving generous assistance and support from BOI since the beginning of operation in 1980. We are thankful for the grant of the investment promotion for both of our solar panel projects. It will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our development and use of renewable energy in Thailand. We hereby respectfully pledge that Thailand will remain as our major production base, and we intend to continue to expand our investment in the future."

We also received the following messages:

The Board of Investment (BOI)
Secretary General, Her Excellency Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit (remote attendance)

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Kainuma for being our Honorary Investment Advisor (HIA) over the past several years. You are truly "friends of the BOI". We sincerely appreciate the company's continued investment in Thailand, which has played a significant role in strengthening the supply chain of Thailand's electronics industry, and has tightened the long-term partnership between us over the past several decades. Today's ceremony marks another important milestone of the group's strong commitment to Thailand. Renewable energy has been on the top of the Thai Government's agenda for many years. Once again, I would like to convey my appreciation to MinebeaMitsumi for the strong confidence in Thailand."

Message from Hiroshi Sasaoka, President, Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation

"As efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are accelerating worldwide, we are very honored to be able to help MinebeaMitsumi Thai's advanced environmental efforts through our solar power generation system. Taking advantage of the knowledge that we have accumulated so far, we will provide well-suited maintenance and continue to support long-term stable operation."

MinebeaMitsumi will continue to contribute to the further spread and expansion of renewable energy and the realization of a sustainable society.
