MinebeaMitsumi Concludes Naming Rights Agreement with Shizuoka University

MinebeaMitsumi Inc. (head Office: Nagano Prefecture, Representative Director, Chairman & CEO: Yoshihisa Kainuma; hereinafter referred to as "MinebeaMitsumi") has concluded the "Naming Rights Agreement" (hereinafter the "Agreement") with National University Corporation Shizuoka University (Headquarters: Shizuoka City, President: Kazuyuki Hizume; hereinafter "Shizuoka University"). Under the Agreement, MinebeaMitsumi has acquired the naming rights for a facility at Shizuoka University. As a result, the Joint Research Laboratory in Hamamatsu Campus of Shizuoka University will be nicknamed "MinebeaMitsumi Room 31," effective from December 2024 to November 2027.

Established in 1986 in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture, MinebeaMitsumi Hamamatsu Plant has played a key role as the R&D hub for technical divisions. Its primary functions include managing the overseas affiliated plants by promoting research and development of new products and technologies, establishing production process, and fostering human resources as the mother plant of electronic device-related products. Also, U-Shin Ltd. Hamamatsu Plant has been developing, manufacturing, and distributing automotive components since 1989.

As MinebeaMitsumi approaches its 100th anniversary in 2051, the company group is now placing even greater emphasis on supporting communities and securing next-generation talents in line with "The Five Principle*," the company's credo. At Hamamatsu Plant, MinebeaMitsumi actively host plant tours for students from Shizuoka University, as well as junior high or high school students from across Shizuoka Prefecture. As part of these efforts, MinebeaMitsumi applied for Shizuoka University's naming rights with the aim of supporting students in their manufacturing endeavors and strengthening ties with the local community that underpins the company's operation. After careful consideration by the Selection Board, MinebeaMitsumi was granted the naming rights.

Shizuoka University introduced the naming rights system in October 2021 to increase its income and contribute to creating the best educational and research environments for its students.

MinebeaMitsumi will continue to support students' manufacturing endeavors and underpinning their educational and research environments. The company's commitment also extends to addressing social issues as well as creation of a prosperous society utilizing its own products.

About MinebeaMitsumi Hamamatsu Plant

MinebeaMitsumi Hamamatsu Plant

The MinebeaMitsumi Hamamatsu Plant was established in 1986 in Asaba-cho, Iwata-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture (currently Fukuroi City) as the R&D Center of Minebea Co., Ltd. At the time of its establishment, its main products (with mechanical products such as bearings, Minebea's original business at its founding, serving as the core), were electronic devices such as magnetic heads and PM-type stepping motors used in FDDs, which were the mainstream external storage devices for PCs at that time. Currently, as the mother factory for MinebeaMitsumi's electronic devices business, which involves various motors and lighting products represented in its Smart City Solutions, the plant conducts operations such as research and development for new products and technologies, support for plants related to business overseas, and employee training for overseas manufacturing sites.
