~ SALIOT Moving Spot Light ~
MinebeaMitsumi Inc. (hereinafter MinebeaMitsumi) collaborates with Go Ogawa's "Surreal Prism—Intangible Entity" exhibition by supplying "SALIOT" spotlights. The exhibition starts from Oct 7, 2022 to Oct 29, 2022, at WHITESTONE GINZA NEW GALLERY (6-4-16 Ginza, Chuo-ku Tokyo, 104-0061, Japan.)

The SMART LED lighting "SALIOT" (Smart Adjustable Light for the Internet Of Things) makes required optical control possible through thin lenses that utilize MinebeaMitsumi's ultra-precision machining technology. Additionally, the wireless Bluetooth Mesh® control system enables hand-held remote devices to adjust the dimness, color, light distribution angle, and irradiation direction individually or in a group according to one's preferences.
Go Ogawa's "Luminous moldings" means exactly what it says. They change their shape when exposed to light. The direction of the light and the viewpoint, in other words, depending on the time and place when one views the work contribute to morphing its appearance.
The SALIOT moving spotlight was chosen this time for lighting. The ability to illuminate specific areas and control brightness automatically allow effortless operation of soft, high-quality light. The light of high color rendering* properties (Ra97) makes the work look beautiful and shows fine details clearly.
MinebeaMitsumi will continue to add new value to lighting as an "INTEGRATED**" precision components manufacturer that combines ultra-precision machining technology with advanced technologies from a wide range of fields and will continue to deliver products that are useful to artists, lighting technicians working at museums and galleries, members of the lighting industry, and consumers.
* Color Rendering : describes how a light source makes the color of an object appear to a human eye/Ra: shows the Color Rendering Index. The color will appear more natural if the CRI number is close to 100.
** INTEGRATION means "combining" rather than "simple gathering" of the Company's proprietary technologies to evolve the Seven Spears and to create synergies in various fields through the INTEGRATION of our advanced product.
GO OGAWA: Surreal Prism—Intangible Entity
Whitestone Ginza New Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Go Ogawa "Surreal Prism—Intangible Entity".
Go Ogawa's "Luminous moldings" dominate the viewer's spatial sensation by utilizing the refraction of light, renovating the idea of visual experience itself. The process, in which various mediums including special processing films turn into an illuminator as a result of his exquisite techniques and elaborate manufacturing, looks as if we witnessed breathtaking metamorphosis. Ogawa's "light" calls fragmentally the viewer's attention not only to their unprecedented experience of "seeing", but also to their personal reminiscence, retrospective feeling, and a part of the art history.
In this exhibition, Go Ogawa delves furtherly into this theme of "light" (image), which is equal to "reminiscence".
An image obtained by the sensor of the brain is only a record of the past.
To the idea of three-dimensional sculptural works, I would like to add the time axis as an element that consists of four-dimensional space-time. By considering this "time axis" as "light" and visualizing it, I am trying to construct a narrative of the work which crossed over versatile dimensions.
If an image that we are seeing at this moment is only a "virtual image", has a "reality" another meaning? - What is the truth concealed in it?
In the middle of the surrealistic luminous experience filled with sur-dimensional works, I would like to ask this question to each visitor.

Utilizing the refraction of light occurred by "prism", Go Ogawa wraps the space with light corpuscles scattered in various hues. While this unconventional visual experience dazzles the viewers, it brings simultaneously back their memory of light evoking something "déjà vu" sensation-the art of Go Ogawa is blessed not only with the radical power which attacks the viewer's sense of formation, but also with the orthodoxy of art descended from impressionism to minimalism. The artist has been challenging the limit of "the disturbance and the expansion of sight" with his selected use of mediums and exquisite techniques.
