Volunteers from the Yamagata Business Division participated in the "SpoGOMI Yamagata Environmental Exhibition 2024"
Four of our employees participated in the "SpoGOMI Yamagata Environmental Exhibition," a sports event designed to clean up litter, which was held as part of the "Yamagata Environmental Exhibition," an event designed to raise environmental awareness in Yamagata Prefecture.
This unique initiative combines sports with community service, challenging teams to compete for points based on the amount and types of trash collected within a 45-minute time limit. This time, volunteers gathered through calls from the Environmental Promotion Committee within the Yamagata office and posters displayed throughout the company worked hard to beautify the local environment.
The day dawned cloudy, with the occasional threat of rain, but fortunately, the weather held steady throughout the activity. A total of 47 participants cleaned the area around the Yamagata Big Wing venue.
Once the event began, we noticed a stark contrast. While the venue grounds were well-maintained, the surrounding roads were littered with trash and appeared even more cluttered than last year. Our team collected 1.24 kilograms, and all participants gathered 10.5 kilograms of trash in total.
The large number of students among the participants was particularly striking. Seeing the younger generation take environmental issues so seriously was inspiring. Furthermore, this activity reminded us of the importance of continuously engaging in environmental conservation as members of the community, rather than stopping at a one-time cleanup.
MinebeaMitsumi group aims to continue engaging in social contribution activities as a member of the local community, striving for coexistence and mutual prosperity with the region.
