Participated in the "11th Yamagata Marugoto Marathon" as a water station volunteer

On October 6, 2024, the Yamagata Business Division volunteered at a water station for the "11th Yamagata Marugoto Marathon", an annual autumn event held in Yamagata City.

This was the first time our Yamagata Business Division participated. Following an internal recruitment campaign using posters and emails, six employees volunteered to join. We were assigned to the fourth water station, which was located at the 13-kilometer mark of the half marathon course (with a total length of 21 kilometers). Our activities included setting up the station, handing out water to runners, and cleaning up afterward.

Since this was our first time participating, we prepared thoroughly in advance. We held an internal briefing session to make sure that everyone understood the day's schedule and procedures. Thanks to our preparation, our team worked together smoothly and completed the activities without any issues.

The cloudy skies on the day of the event had us worried about the weather, but fortunately, it didn't rain during our activity hours. We were able to cheer on the runners in comfortable conditions. Our water station was positioned at the front line, where the runners first came rushing in. Accurately distributing water to the steady stream of runners demanded intense concentration. However, it was a moment that brought a sense of accomplishment equal to the challenge itself, along with the joy of contributing to our community.

This activity, in which we honored each runner's pace and prioritized providing prompt and attentive water service, offered a valuable opportunity to reinforce the significance of teamwork and communication. On the day of the event, we collaborated with staff from Yamagata City Hall and other volunteers, working together as one to successfully fulfill our roles. We will continue our community contribution activities moving forward, carrying the sense of accomplishment gained from this wonderful experience.
