Volunteers digging taro for the Yamagata's famous "The biggest IMONI Festival"
The MinebeaMitsumi Group participated in volunteer activities for the first time in support of "The biggest IMONI Festival", Yamagata's autumn tradition.
The biggest IMONI Festival
The festival is held every September on the riverside of Yamagata City, is one of Yamagata Prefecture's most notable events. It attracts tourists from within and outside the prefecture.
The festival's main attraction is the spectacular sight of over 30,000 servings of IMONI stew being prepared in a massive, diameter of 6.5 meters pot using construction machinery. In 2018, the festival was registered in the Guinness World Records for serving the largest quantity of soup in eight hours.
Our employees and their families harvested taro with a deep affection for our community
Twenty-one employees and family members from our Yamagata Business Division volunteered as harvesters for the festival's star ingredient taro.
On that day, they worked hard harvesting the large taro grown in a dedicated field near the Yamagata City General Sports Center, as well as sorting the 3,200 kilograms of harvested taro.
MinebeaMitsumi group aims to continue engaging in social contribution activities as a member of the local community, striving for coexistence and mutual prosperity with the region.
