Yonago Plant Ekiden Team Makes First Appearance in Locally-Held Race
Minebea supports various club activities in order to promote sports in the local community as well as the health of its employees.
The Ekiden Team at the Yonago Plant made their first appearance in the locally-held Kitaro Cup Sakaiminato Ekiden Race.
The race consists of a relay conducted in teams of 7 people over a distance of 42.195 kilometers; the same as a marathon. The Yonago Plant team was comprised of 7 athletes, 7 assistants, 14 cheering squad members, and 1 coach.
The team was unable to beat their target time of 3 hours and they were not quite able to place well. However, there were many people present to offer them friendly cheers, allowing each of the athletes to come together to fight as one and finish their respective sections of the race. With the team's participation this time around, they were also able to get a real feel for the sport as they also witnessed before their very own eyes the top-class running of other teams. This means that the team will draw on their experience from this year when they take part in next year's Ekiden race.
Minebea will continue to undertake the task of contributing to society and promoting the health of its employees through sports.
