Karuizawa Plant Visit Takes Miyota Junior High Students into the Working World
Minebea's Karuizawa Plant in Miyota-machi, Kitasaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture opened its doors to four local kids in their second year at Miyota Junior High School to help out with the school's work experience program. The program is part of the school's career education curriculum which is designed to teach students about the difficulties and importance of working via a learning opportunity that puts them shoulder to shoulder with adults in a real work setting. During their two days at the plant, the students got some hands-on experience with assembly and inspection operations at the Karuizawa Plant's Ball Bearing Business Unit.
Afterwards Minebea received thank you notes in the mail from the students who completed the program. One student said he was surprised to learn how many ball bearings are at work in our daily lives. Another student noted that, while the detailed work was tiring, he was impressed by the Minebea employees who did it day in and day out. Others wrote about how they hoped to apply what they learned through the work experience program in the future.
Proud to have played a part in the program, Minebea looks forward to participating in similar community activities in the future.
